This Easy Coffee-Making Method Will Give You a Perfect Cup of Joe Every Time

Tags:

For many of us, our morning is not complete without a mug of coffee. While there’s several ways to make it at home, using a French press is a simple method that only takes about four minutes to brew. Learn how to use a French press with our easy step-by-step guide that promises you a perfectly blended cup of Joe each time.

What is a French press?

A French press or ‘cafetière’, as it’s otherwise known, is a heat-proof jug made from glass and has a strainer attached to the lid. It’s used for making coffee from coffee grounds. This is done by placing these inside the jug and topping it with hot water, before pushing the strainer to the bottom of the jug, leaving you with perfect coffee. They’re extremely easy to use and a great option when making multiple cups of coffee or if you simply prefer the taste of ground coffee.

How to Use a French Press for Coffee

  1. First, make sure your French press (Buy on Amazon, $27.99) is well cleaned. A dirty French press will give your coffee a muddy taste.
  1. Boil the kettle and leave to rest for around a minute. It’s really important that you don’t pour boiling water directly onto your ground coffee as this can burn it.
  1. Measure out your coffee and pop it into the French press. If you want to make one cup of coffee put in one teaspoon, if you want to make more cups add just one teaspoon accordingly.
  1. Fill the French press with water from the kettle. Do this halfway if you’re making coffee for one or to the top if it’s for multiple cups.
  1. Place the lid on the French press and leave your coffee to brew for four minutes. Once four minutes is up, slowly push the plunger down to the bottom of the jug. Don’t be tempted to plunge too fast, as the coffee grounds may escape through the strainer.
  1. Serve your coffee and enjoy!
