Rob Lowe’s Secret For Staying in Better Shape at 57 Than as a Teen Idol

Rob Lowe is a very good looking man, there’s no denying it. The actor’s charming smile and chiseled features have been making audiences swoon ever since he first started gracing our screens back in the 1980s, in movies like The Outsiders and St. Elmo’s Fire.
Now that he’s in his 50s, Lowe certainly hasn’t let himself go. In fact, he seems to be in even better shape now than he was while running around with the “Brat Pack” in his 20s. Just look at this sizzling photo he shared on Instagram:
A quick scroll through his feed proves that even when he’s not honing his muscles at the gym, Lowe enjoys an active lifestyle. Surfing and golf seem to be two of his favorite pastimes, especially if he gets to enjoy them with his sons, Mathew and John Owen, who are 28 and 26.
He’s also opens up frequently on his Instagram page about how he maintains his physique by following the Atkins method of eating low-carb and high-protein meals. Lowe is now an Atkins spokesperson, but admitted to following the eating plan long before their partnership, starting in his late 30s.
“I realized I couldn’t eat like a teenager anymore,” he explained. “I’ve been practicing an Atkins low-carb lifestyle since then – I enjoy lots of great food and it’s how I feel and look my best.” He’s also careful not to call it a diet, “I just make healthy choices most of the time. I never diet.”
A typical day’s worth of meals for Lowe includes starting the day with protein like eggs or Greek yogurt with low-carb granola, then a chicken Caesar salad for lunch, an Atkins bar or shake as a mid-afternoon snack, and either fish or steak with a chopped salad for dinner. That’s not to say he doesn’t enjoy indulging on occasion too, though. “Every once in awhile, I’ll treat myself to pizza or a chocolate milkshake.” Hey, it’s clearly working for him!
You should consult your doctor before following in Lowe’s footsteps with Atkins. In the meantime, we can all hope for another impressive gym photos and videos on our social media feeds soon.
