As it turns out, it takes a lot longer to lose 10 pounds than one might think. We’ve all heard the oft-repeated advice that those trying to lose weight should try to lose one or two pounds per week, right? So by that logic, we should be shedding off those last 10 pounds in five weeks. (Hmmpf!) But for many of us, that’s not the case, as weight loss is far from being the easiest thing in the world. And new weight loss research proves it.
Based on the data from the weight loss app Lose It!, the average app users lost 10 pounds in about seven weeks. Approximately 90 percent of their users who lost 10 pounds did it in less than 13 weeks. Phew! We don’t know about you, but this makes us feel so much better about our own weight loss goals.
We understand that it might still be super-tempting to lose 10 pounds quickly, especially if you have a big, important event coming up. It can be even more frustrating if a peer is losing weight more quickly than you. But it’s important to remember that no two bodies are the same, and we all lose weight at different paces.
