ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED (6/29) — Our thoughts and prayers are with The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki after his tragic misfortune. While we’re thankful that no one was hurt, the star’s house wasn’t so lucky.

According to TMZ and confirmed by PEOPLE, the 42-year-old’s San Luis Obispo ranch home was destroyed in the California fire that has neighbors worried for their own property. PEOPLE reports that Galecki’s home, which is about 190 miles from Los Angeles, was burned to the ground.

The Hill Fire, as it’s now being called, is about 1,500 acres in size according to estimates. What started off as two fires merged into one, The Hill Fire, says KSBY—but as of the night of June 27, about 60 percent of the fire had been contained. With California’s fire season just ramping up, we can only hope that no one else sees similar property damage.

Nearby residents, some 250 in total, were evacuated from their homes and roads to the fire were closed down.

TMZ also reports that per a close friend of Galecki, the The Big Bang Theory actor had not yet seen the property. They also claim that when he gets the go-ahead from proper authorities, he can enter the home and grab anything salvageable.

“My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire, the threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile,” Galecki told TMZ.

“It’s never the structures that create a community—it’s the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it’s that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it’s a time to reach out and rebuild. We’ve done it before, and will need to do it together again, and it will make our community even closer and stronger. Endless thanks to CalFire and the Sheriff’s Office. I know you guys are fighting the good fight to keep us safe. So very relieved no one has been hurt.”

So sad! We’re keeping Galecki and any of those affected by the fire in our thoughts and prayers.
