Bed Bath & Beyond Will Accept Toys ‘R’ Us Gift Cards for a Limited Time
Beloved retailer Toys “R” Us announced plans to liquidate all of its locations in mid-March, leaving many would-be shoppers wondering what would happen the Toys “R” Us gift cards still sitting in their purses. Fortunately, buyers have a few options now that Bed Bath & Beyond has advertised its gift-card exchange program.
All you have to do is visit the webpage for Bed Bath & Beyond’s Card Cash exchange program, where you can enter the amount of money leftover on your Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us gift cards. You can even turn in vouchers from other stores and restaurants, like Target, Cheesecake Factory, and Sears.
The catch? Sadly, you won’t get the full value of your gift card — bummer, we know — and gift cards must have a minimum of $20 left on them in order to be exchanged. While there’s no word on exactly what percentage Bed Bath & Beyond is offering, a $25 Toys “R” Us or Babies “R” Us gift card will get you $16.05 worth of store credit, according to the website. A $100 gift card will be worth just $64.20. Also, you must act quickly: If you decide to swap your gift cards for store credit at Bed Bath & Beyond, you have until Thursday, April 5, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Of course, you still have the option to use your Toys “R” Us gift card at an actual location — for now. On March 15, when the company filed paperwork in bankruptcy court, a Toys “R” Us spokesperson said the company would honor outstanding gift cards for 30 days. The toy retailer recently shut down sales on its website, so you’ll have until April 14 to visit a brick-and-mortar location to snag a good deal. Perhaps this is the perfect time to get a head start on your Christmas shopping — you can never be too early, right?
