We’ve often wondered how Kelly Ripa manages to look so fresh-faced in the morning — and on high-def television, no less! As it turns out, her secret is simple: She takes great care of her skin, shielding it with a broad-spectrum SPF 50 sun protectant every day. And her go-to tinted sunscreen of choice, La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios 50 ($36.99, ULTA), doubles as a light foundation, giving her gorgeous complexion just the right amount of coverage.

“It looks like maybe you put on foundation, maybe you didn’t, who knows?” she told New York Magazine this month of the product.

Its blendable, sheer coverage formula works under your makeup or on its own, and it has a matte finish that leaves you glowing — not shiny. It also lends just the right touch of color.

As Ripa revealed to the publication, other tinted products she tried were too dark or orange-colored, “to the point where you don’t even look like yourself,” but she found her perfect match in La Roche-Posay: “[It] “makes you look sun-kissed and not a weird color,” she said.

Besides giving her that healthy glow, this sunscreen is formulated with antioxidants, which can neutralize harmful free radicals and help to reduce dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. With thermal spring water and titanium dioxide (the active element in many sunscreens that filters UV rays), it’s safe for even the most sensitive of skin.

Better yet, it’s water-resistant for up to 40 minutes, so there’s no fear of it instantaneously washing away should you take a dip in the ocean.

The 49-year-old mother of three and co-host of LIVE with Kelly and Ryan wasn’t always so scrupulous about her skincare. “I grew up going to the Jersey Shore where … we put baby oil on our skin and thought it didn’t work unless we were burned,” she recalled.

Luckily, Ripa now gets regular screenings from her dermatologist and “doubles down” on her sun protection.

She’s not the only one who loves this high-SPF find, either. “I’ve been using this sunscreen for years,” wrote one reviewer. “I don’t leave the house without it on … it’s lightweight and smooth, goes on like a dream, and stays on all day.”

Added another: “Ever since I started using it, I stopped using my foundation in the morning. It did hide my pores and even out my skin tone while protecting my skin from the sun and not causing any trouble.”
