Keep Your Razors Sharp With an Old Pair of Jeans

Silky smooth legs may not be your first concern for the fall and winter seasons, but there’s no denying the confidence they give you–even if your legs are covered up by pantyhose. Unfortunately, achieving bump-free legs mostly comes down to your razor, and for best results experts recommend switching the head out every 2-3 weeks. That’s great for them, but for those of us on a budget, that timeline just won’t cut it–which is why you need to sharpen your razors. Yes, even disposable.

When you’re done in the shower, dry your razor, and grab a pair of old jeans you don’t wear anymore. Run the razor down the leg of the jeans 10 times before switching directions and dragging it up the leg 10 more times. Doing so sharpens your razor because the threads in jeans run diagonally. It gets better: Taking care of your razor this way after each use can also even out nicks in the blade, removes product buildup, and can help your razors last several months instead of weeks. Plus, the sharper blade leaves you with a closer shave for smoother skin.

StyleCaster recommends doing this before and after each use if you rely on cheap disposable razors to get the best results and the longest life out of each one.
