Audrey Hepburn’s Steam Facial Is So Easy to DIY At Home

Audrey Hepburn was known for being one of the most gorgeous Hollywood starlets, so it’s no wonder that many people are still curious about her beauty tips today. Luckily for us, at least one of them is both super easy and affordable: her steam facial.

According to Good Housekeeping, the iconic actress performed a steam facial twice per week. Although this self-care routine might sound luxurious for any of us with busy schedules, the actual process takes almost no time at all. To recreate a steam facial at home, all you have to do is boil water and then pour said water into a heat-safe glass or ceramic bowl. Next, you lean over the bowl with a towel over the back of your head. Then, you simply allow the steam from the bowl to rise into your pores for a few minutes. That’s pretty much it!

If you don’t have an appropriate-sized bowl for Audrey Hepburn’s steam facial, don’t despair: You can also imitate her routine by using your bathroom sink, as Shape reports. If you choose this option, all you need to do is plug your sink, fill it with boiling water, and then stand over the sink with the towel over the back of your head for a couple of minutes. No matter which DIY option you choose, it’s worth mentioning that it’s a great time for you to exfoliate your skin after you’re done — especially if exfoliation is a regular part of your skincare regimen anyway. However, if you’re not really into exfoliation, you don’t have to add that step.

According to SkinBar NYC, Audrey was known to swear by this go-to beauty routine in order to keep her skin looking healthy, clear of blemishes, and revived. While the superstar obviously had naturally good looks and striking features, this strategy appeared to help her look and feel her absolute best for the cameras. Considering that experts say face-steaming helps with cleansing, hydrating, and providing a youthful glow to the face, it seems like Audrey was definitely onto something.
