The $7 Drugstore Product Brooke Shields Relies on For a Bright and Healthy Smile

When strolling through the drugstore for anti-aging products, how often do you find yourself in the toothpaste aisle? We have a feeling the answer is close to never. Brooke Shields is hoping to change that mindset by reminding us how important it is to maintain healthy gums as we age, and introduce us to the toothpaste she relies on to reverse early damage and revitalize her smile.

“I think, you know, we smile, we make sure our teeth are white and we make sure they look good — but we don’t think about the very base of that,” Shields, 55, tells us. “Without that gum health, you’re really in trouble.” She adds that it’s easy to get distracted by thinking about wrinkles and other cosmetic issues that come with aging, but says, “the conversation [about gum health] needs to be had, and not once you hit a much later age.”

The actress also admits that although she’s always been proactive about her self-care, she wasn’t aware of how crucial it was to focus on our gums until recently, either. “I was amazed that it was even an issue,” she says. “I just had no idea that gum damage can happen gradually and that sometimes, by the time you find out, it’s almost too late.”

With that in mind, Shields has teamed up with Colgate to promote their Renewal Gum Toothpaste (Buy at Walmart, $6.96), which she tells us can help reverse early gum damage. “I look for products [like this] that check multiple boxes. If it’s enamel that you need [help with] or if you’ve got sensitivity, there is a Colgate Renewal for that particular thing.”

Shields spilled on her skincare, too, which she keeps just as simple yet effective. There are no complicated, multi-step regimens for the actress. Instead, she says, “If something has vitamin C in it, I’ll use it because I’ve noticed that seems to help with my skin.”

We can look forward to seeing her healthy smile and glowing skin later this year in a holiday rom-com she recently filmed for Netflix. “Somehow, miraculously, I was able to get to Scotland and we created an entire village,” she tells us. “We all stayed for two and a half months, just with each other, getting Covid tested every other day.” We can’t wait to tune in!
