Keep an Eye on the Thanksgiving Weather Forecast This Year

Tags:

If you’re traveling to see your family for the holidays, you’ll definitely want to watch the Thanksgiving weather forecast closely. This year has been full of strange seasonal patterns, and there’s no guarantee that Thanksgiving Day weather will be exempt.

Traveling on Thanksgiving is stressful enough already with all the crowded airports and the traffic jams; the last thing you want is to get caught in a surpise Thanksgiving storm or a flurry of Thanksgiving snow while you’re in transit. That’s why it’s important to stay tuned to your local Thanksgiving forecast as far in advance as possible and keep tabs on the latest updates for any unexpected changes. That way, you can be prepared and plan accordingly — and not miss out on any delicious Thanksgiving food.

What is the weather forecast for Thanksgiving Day 2018?

As of October 2018, it’s a bit too early to say what the weather forecast for Thanksgiving will be this year. As you may recall, last year’s Thanksgiving weather forecast wasn’t released until about mid-November — and it changed many times before the actual holiday itself.

Remember the big “Thanksgiving storm” that was supposed to hit the East Coast last year? As you may recall, that didn’t end up happening. Save for a small coastal storm on the East and some snow in the Pacific Northwest, most of the country experienced pretty calm Thanksgiving weather for 2017, according to Accuweather. Interestingly enough, the big weather story actually ended up being that some locations in California — such as LA — had the hottest Thanksgiving weather on record!

As you can imagine, there are virtually endless possibilities of what the Thanksgiving weather outlook will be this year. But whether you’re eating your turkey dinner in the blistering cold or sweltering heat or somewhere in between, it’s important to remember what Thanksgiving means to you. Despite the conditions outside, the holiday is a precious opportunity to spend time with your loved ones and practice gratitude for what you have. As long as you’re safely inside with them, enjoying a nice meal and saying thanks, that’s all that really matters.

So keep your eyes peeled for weather updates and be prepared that you may need to allow for additional travel time if necessary. And remember: At the end of the trip, your slice of pumpkin pie awaits!
