Get crafts sewn up
A regular sewing and craft station is a breeding ground for clutter — and you can never find anything! Going vertical means much less frustration and more time spent indulging your passion.
Hang cups, shelves, and baskets for extra storage and use hooks to hang scissors and ribbons. Photos and plants add some personal style.
Stitch a sign
Cut a piece of pegboard to size and use yarns or ribbons to create a cross-stitch message. Add cute white or colored hooks to make a welcoming and tidy entrance. Also great for a child’s room.
Organize a desk
Cover the wall behind a desk with a pegboard and use it to hang pots for pens, stationery holders, scissors, and notebooks. It also doubles as a mood board for images, typography, and anything that inspires you. Add shelves to make it even more useful.
Wooden spice racks by companies like Ikea make great shallow shelves (and hold notebooks in place) and look super painted.
Put up a piece of pegboard in the shed or garage and keep tools at hand. Draw around them with a black marker and you’ll know where they belong.
1. You’ll find Masonite pegboard at your local hardware stores and will need to paint or spray-paint it. White works for most areas, but using an attractive color also looks great and creates more of a feature wall.
2. There are lots of hook options, many made specifically for pegboards. Most hardware stores stock a good selection.
3. Buy storage pots or make your own from empty food cans. Paint or cover them in wrapping or wallpaper, punch a hole close to the top and hang each one on a hook.
