Showers are often seen as the time to clean your entire body. But according to skin care experts, there is one part you should skip.
Your face. Yes, really. And there are a couple of reasons why. One is that it’s harder to control the temperature, so it’s likely that you’re not using the right one for your face. And hot water can leave your skin dehydrated and susceptible to blotchiness.
Another reason is that the residue from other shower products can damage your facial skin. You might end up mixing bits of your shampoo or conditioner with face washing products, which will do you no favors.
Yet another reason is that if you wash your face in the shower, more water will go on your face than necessary, which, ironically, can lead to dehydration.
So what should we do instead?
Skin care expert Dr. Tanzi said that she recommends her patients wash their faces at the sink.
“You can gauge the temperature more effectively and should use lukewarm to cold water, which is better for delicate faces,” she said.
Sounds like a plan to us!
