8 Essential Tips for Living an Organized Life

Tags:

Self-confessed stationery addict Beck Wadworth is the founder of blog and brand An Organized Life, and a pro at planning ahead. It’s Wadworth’s amazing organizational skills and passion for planning that led to her success, and she’s here to share her know-how and help you live your best life. From religiously keeping a diary to organizing her wardrobe by season, Wadworth shares her secrets to staying organized, planning, and keeping clutter under control.

1. Diary

“I always have my diary and a notebook with me, says Beck. I’m a huge to-do list lover and plan my daily schedule and projects in detail. Every night I write a task list for the following day and prioritize my top three MIT’s (most important tasks). I also break down my day and what I want to achieve into morning and afternoon slots.”

2. Stationary

I use hidden storage solutions in my workspace to avoid visible clutter. A clean space equals a clear mind and a productive day! Most of my office equipment is kept concealed in drawers, but on my desk you’ll find a neat pile of notebooks, a pen holder with all the essentials, and my favorite Lumira candle.

3. Clothes

I organize my wardrobe by season and anything I won’t be wearing is cleaned and stored away in airtight bags. Clothes are sorted by category and separated into white, beige, navy, and black colors. At night, I check the weather and my diary and prepare an outfit for the next day. It makes my morning routine smoother!

4. Shoes

My shoes are arranged in pairs at the bottom of my wardrobe, however I’m currently on the hunt for a stylish shoe rack. In warmer months, I move my winter boots into a storage box so they stay in good condition while not in use.

5. Jewelry

Because I’m constantly traveling, all of my favorite jewelry is sorted into one small box that I can carry in my hand luggage, ready for events, photo shoots, and my on-the-go life. When I’m not traveling, I keep this box in my bedroom.

6. Handbags

I have bags inside my handbag! They include my wallet, a small leather makeup bag, and a small leather pouch where I keep medication, hair ties, headphones, a Band-Aid, and other bits and pieces. I like to do a clean-out every weekend.

7. Beauty Products

At home, I arrange my skincare in order of how I apply it and keep my makeup in a leather pouch so it’s easy to grab and go when needed. At the moment, my beauty products are in toiletry bags because I’ve been flying so much. One is for daily essentials, one is for extras like masks, and one is for quick beauty go-tos.

8. Food Items

Airtight plastic containers are the key to keeping my pantry in order. I keep basic ingredients like flour and sugar in them and refill as needed. When it comes to the fridge, I keep dairy products and fresh produce separate in their own sections.
