As much as we love watching Jennifer Garner on the big screen and most recently on the new HBO comedy Camping, we have to admit that we’re most charmed by the actress on her Instagram and Facebook accounts. The mom of three frequently posts updates featuring her bubbly, upbeat personality. Seriously, if you’re ever looking for something to boost your mood, a quick scroll through one of Jennifer’s feeds will probably do the trick!
Aside from silly photos and behind-the-scenes looks at her film projects, Jennifer also often shares short clips of what she calls her “Pretend Cooking Show.” Food is something the actress takes seriously as the co-founder of Once Upon a Farm, an organic baby food company, but she clearly lets herself just relax and have fun in her own kitchen. Plus, you just might pick up a few handy cooking tips from her quirky clips. For example, as you can see in the video below, Jennifer found herself in a tough spot when she forgot to prep for early morning baking before the holidays. While trying to stay quiet for her sleeping children’s sake (which involves a hilarious battle with her noisy cabinets), Jennifer realized she didn’t have enough softened butter for the chocolate chocolate chip bread she was whipping up. That didn’t stop her from continuing with the recipe — instead, she used her cheese grater to slice the butter into much more manageable, “softened-like” pieces that allowed her to finish the scrumptious loaf.

You can find the full episode on IGTV. #PretendCookingShow #bangwentthecabinet #😡😩🤦🏻♀️wentmybrain #hurryupchristmas🤶🏻 . #TheBreadBible Chocolate Chocolate Chip Bread Ingredients: 3 Tbs plus 1/2 Tbs unsweetened cocoa powder 3 Tbs boiling water 1/2 Tbs pure vanilla extract 3 large eggs 1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour 3/4 cup plus 2 Tbs sugar 3/4 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 13 Tbs unsalted butter, softened 3 Tbs chocolate mini chips or bittersweet chocolate (chopped) . Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350F. 2. Whisk cocoa and boiling water until smooth. Allow to cool to room temperature, then gently whisk in vanilla and eggs. 3. In a mixer bowl, combine cake flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix on low speed for 30 seconds to blend. Add half the chocolate paste and the butter and mix until dry ingredients are moistened. Increase speed to medium-high and beat for 1 minute to aerate and develop structure. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Gradually add remaining chocolate paste in two batches, beating for 20 seconds after each addition to incorporate the ingredients and strengthen the structure. Scrape down the bowl. Fold in chocolate mini chips/chopped chocolate. 4. Scrape batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the surface with a spatula. 5. Bake for 50-60 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center will read about 200F. (The bread shouldn’t start to shrink from the sides of the pan until after removal from the oven.) 6. Set the bread on a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes. Loosen the sides of the bread and invert onto an oiled wire rack. Reinvert so it is top side up and cool completely.

Jennifer’s cooking is influenced by a lot of her favorite cooks, including the Pioneer Woman and her very own grandmother, though she seems to have a particularly soft spot for Ina Garten. The Barefoot Contessa even invited Jennifer to appear in her most recent Thanksgiving special on Food Network (also available on Jennifer’s Facebook). It seems like the pair are quickly forming a friendship that we can only hope ends with them sharing a real cooking show. Until then, we can’t wait to see what delightful adventures Jennifer will get up to, whether she’s in the kitchen or on a film set.
