Pandora is a great way to listen to continuous, beautiful music you love without having to think much about it. If you’re an old-school Pandora listener, then you know all about Pandora’s ability to curate a “station” designed specifically for you. But when Pandora Premium came out, listeners were forced to choose between the radio-style experience and an optimized streaming service that allows users to listen to whatever they want, whenever they want to for just $10 a month.
If you’re a stickler about money — and honestly, this time of year, who isn’t? — then we have a bit of good news that’ll brighten your day: Pandora is now offering free access to its premium tier, which could mean free Christmas music playing in your home for days on end — if you’re okay with watching a few ads, that is.
Pandora made the big announcement on Thursday, claiming that non-paying listeners can now listen to specific songs, artists, and playlists without paying a dime. Instead, these users can opt to 15-second video ad to unlock a “Pandora Premium listening session.” While it’s unclear how long each session lasts, it sure sounds a lot better than dishing out $10 each month.
How to Get Pandora Premium for Free
To access this loophole feature, all you have to do is search for a song, artist, album, etc. in Pandora. You’ll then be presented with the option to “unlock” it with an ad.
Pandora will recommend other songs and albums that require a Premium listening session to play too.
This new ad-focused option is a perfect way to get around paying for holiday music. Just pick your favorite holiday tune, let the ad play, and listen on. And if you’re getting sick of the same old Christmas staples, Pandora has a variety of fun stations to try, including Today’s Christmas — which features modern holiday tunes — and Country Christmas for the country-music lovers among us. If you were hoping for a festive soundtrack for your family’s annual Christmas party, sounds like you have the perfect solution.
Pandora also offers users the Pandora Plus option, which allows listeners to replay songs, skip as many as they’d like, and listen offline for $5 per month. But, if you’re already paying $5 for those features and listening to ads too, what’s $5 more for a Premium account? We say soak up this free offering while it lasts. Then, let the sing-a-long begin!
