Woman Puts Boyfriend in His Place After He Says She Shouldn’t Make More Than Him

Tags:

Eavesdropping in public falls into the same category of societal no-nos as white lies — a gray area we are are all guilty of, but prefer not to talk about. In this situation, we’re very glad Twitter user @mzbat made her eavesdropping public when she tweeted a couples’ airport fight to her almost 25 thousand followers.

The couple (who remain nameless) began a discussion about an upcoming promotion the girlfriend was being offered, which her boyfriend was asking her to turn down because everyone would know she would be making more money than him.

If reading that made your blood boil, you’re not alone — but wait, there’s more.

The woman then wiped her tears away and said, “Kids? Who said anything about me ever wanting kids?!”

We agree with @mzbats: Airport lady is the hero we all need as we enter 2018 and leave the ups and downs of 2017 behind us. Although we might be left on a high after reading this story, it also highlights some dark elements of an abusive relationship.

Not everyone can walk out of a situation like this, and more often than not, those stuck in the cycle of an abusive relationship get left behind. Signs of abuse in a relationship can include your partner trying to control your behavior, your partner threatening to harm you, your pets, or people you love, or being scared of your partner.

If you or someone you love is part of an abusive relationship, contact The National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
