Girl Scouts Launch Cookie Season With a Brand-New Flavor
If you’re guilty of frantically Googling “When are girl scout cookies on sale?” in the middle of a sugar craving, we’ve got good news for you. Girl Scouts nationwide are selling their iconic baked goods stating January 2, so there go our healthy-eating resolutions. And as proof that the giving season extends far past Christmas, the Girl Scouts are selling a brand-new flavor!
Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies — made with yummy caramel, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and a dash of sea salt — is the newest addition to this year’s sugary lineup. It joins Toffee-tastic as the other gluten-free cookie option. The perennial favorites Thin Mints, Caramel deLites/Samoas, and Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs return this year, as do S’mores, Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwich, Thanks-A-Lot, Shortbread/Trefoils, Lemonades, and Savannah Smiles.

Grocery stores and community centers are popular places for Girl Scout troops to set up shop, so keep an eye out the next time you’re driving around town. Some Girl Scout councils sell cookies online, which is perfect for stockpiling a sugary stash that will last you through the year.
This year’s cookies are guilt-free because each sale helps a young girl win the “Cookie Entrepreneur Experience of a Lifetime,” according to a company press release. The Girl Scouts have teamed up with DC Super Hero Girls to “highlight and reward exceptional cookie bosses who take the lead, set high goals for themselves, bring positive change to their communities, and learn valuable entrepreneurial skills.”
“The Girl Scout Cookie Program plays a powerful role in developing financially savvy girl leaders,” Girl Scout USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo said. “Girl entrepreneurs learn valuable interpersonal and business skills via the cookie program that help them become successful in their future careers, no matter what path they choose.”
