Wife Devises Hilarious Chart to Translate ‘Husband Speak’

Tags:

After years together, you probably know all your hubby’s likes, dislikes, and quirks. In fact, you two have probably developed your own language, which is why you can’t help but groan inwardly when your husband pops his head into the kitchen and says, “Did we pay that bill?” knowing full well that he completely forgot to pay the bill. Fortunately, writer and comedian Sarah Cooper is here to commiserate — and get a few laughs — with her amusing “husband speak” translation chart.

How much of the “husband speak” on this list is the same that goes on in your house? As a sign that Cooper’s Instagram is 100-percent relatable, happimessmedia commented, “YES to all the things!” User jeff4r_angcanan even added his own, “Where do you want to eat? = I want pancakes.” We’d like to add one ourselves: “I’ll do it in a minute = I will fix the cabinet by the end of the year.”

Cooper, who previously worked for Google and Yahoo among others, went viral in 2014 when she wrote “10 Tricks to Appear Smarter in Meetings.” So far, the blog post has more than 2 million views and 14,000 shares. And if you’ve ever had the misfortune of sitting through a long, boring meeting (and who among us hasn’t?), her tricks — like “Nod continuously while pretending to take notes” — will strike you as brutally honest and totally hilarious. Her satirical website, called The Cooper Review, contains content in that same vein of humor and now boasts millions of readers.

Like many good things in life, Cooper’s “10 Tricks to Appear Smarter in Meetings” almost never happened. “I wrote them down in a journal and then never looked at or thought about them again,” she told Observer. “Then six years later, as I was cleaning out some storage, I came across the journal and thought, ‘Oh, I should finish this. I should do something with that.’” Life is funny, isn’t it?
