This 3-Ingredient Ice Cream Uses Real Snow for a Scrumptious Winter Treat
As any parent or grandparent with kids cooped up inside on snow days can tell you, it’s important to get creative when it comes to passing the time. They can only enjoy playing in the flakes outside for so long before they need to come back inside to warm up, after all. Jackie Currie, the Canadian blogger behind Happy Hooligans, knows exactly how that feels with the massive amounts of snow her region receives each winter.
After an especially heavy blanket of snow, Jackie decided to bring some of those flakes inside to try making ice cream from it. You read that right: She made ice cream using real snow! Of course, it’s important to make sure it’s the freshest and cleanest flakes before starting this particular recipe. Jackie was also pretty skeptical it would taste all that good, but figured it was worth a shot to see for herself. Plus, the snowy dessert is so easy to make with just two other ingredients: vanilla extract and condensed milk.
Jackie used eight to 12 cups of new-fallen snow, a 10 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk, and one teaspoon of the vanilla. All you have to do is mix it all together in a big bowl until everything is combined, then take a taste! According to Jackie, all of her fears about the flavor flew out the window after trying the finished recipe — in fact, she claimed that it was even better than store-bought ice creams.
