3 New Ways to Save Big Shopping Online

Tags:

According to a recent Bank of America survey, 96 percent of us regularly shop online. However, many of us aren’t saving as much as we could. That’s why FIRST asked three top shopping pros for their secrets to getting the best bang for your buck. Try one today!

Opt for In-Store Pickup

“Shipping costs can eat into online shopping deals. Rather than pay for delivery, try ordering online from a store that also has a brick-and-mortar storefront and opt for free in-store pickup. Not only will you qualify for discounts not offered in the store, but you can get your merchandise much faster. What’s more, many stores will bring your order right out to the car so you don’t even have to go inside!” — Kerry Taylor, author of 397 Ways to Save Money.

Shop Electronics on Resale

“I’m a gadget girl, but I hate to buy gadgets brand new— especially since they end up being half the price a month later. Plus, I know my favorite items will be sold on the resale market shortly. So I scour sites like Mercari.com for used gadgets. Sometimes I’ll even settle for a broken device, especially if it’s only been a few months since it hit the market, which means it is still under warranty. Then I can send it in for a new one, and since I only have to pay shipping, I get it replaced at a fraction of the cost new!” — Lindsey C. Holmes, tech expert at UsableTech.co

Check Digital Warehouses

When it comes to saving serious money at warehouse clubs, you can often score greater deals simply by shopping online. Certain products are usually a lot cheaper on the retailer’s website. The reason? The brick-and-mortar stores only have so much space to display items, but the items offered on the website are stored in huge warehouses in larger quantities. They want to move more products, so they’ll offer better pricing. For example, SamsClub.com was recently selling mattresses for $100 less than their in-club prices, and shipping was free.”— Andrea Woroch, money-saving expert at AndreaWoroch.com
