Richard Simmons Sends Fans a Powerful Reminder From His Hospital Bed

UPDATE (4/24) — We’re so excited to hear Richard Simmons’ good news. Fans were worried after he was recently hospitalized for feeling “under the weather,” especially since rumors had been floating around that he had gone missing instead. As it turned out, he was actually getting treated for “severe indigestion.” But now, it’s thankfully a thing of the past, as he is finally back home. And he has a message to send to the people that helped him get back on his feet.

“I wanted to take a moment to send a big thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center during my short stay there this week,” he said on his Facebook page.

Simmons also took a moment to thank medical professionals in general for the good work they do, as well as police officers, firefighters, and our military forces.

“They risk so much every day to make us well and keep us protected,” he wrote. “God bless all of them.”

(4/20) Happy news: Richard Simmons wants you to know that he is alive and well.

The Sweatin’ to the Oldies star was recently hospitalized for a case of “severe indigestion,” his rep, Michael Catalano, confirmed to ET. The news of Simmons’s health scare comes after weeks of speculation about the workout guru’s whereabouts after Dan Taberski released his podcast, Missing Richard Simmons, which aimed to find out why he had suddenly disappeared from the public eye.

Despite rumors that Simmons was being held hostage by his housekeeper, Simmons is, in fact, not missing.

“Aren’t you sick of hearing and reading about me?! LOL. Well, by now you know that I’m not ‘missing,’ just a little under the weather,” he wrote on Facebook. “I’m sure I will be feeling good and back home in a couple of days.

Neither Simmons nor his rep revealed which hospital Simmons visited, but since he entered treatment, he’s been flooded with love and support.

“You will never know how much it means to me,” Simmons wrote.

After acknowledging his fans, he went on to talk about the importance of having a strong network of friends—a message we’re so glad he’s coming forward to spread.

“This has reminded me that when you need help, you can’t be afraid to reach out and ask for it. We all think we should always be able to solve our problems all by ourselves and sometimes it’s just bigger than we are,” he said. “I reached out, and I hope you will too.. I’m sure there are people in your life who love and care for you and would do anything to help you with the challenges you face.”

He ends the post, “Just knowing you care has already made me feel better. Hope to see you again soon!”
