Julia Louis-Dreyfus Lightens Mood During Cancer Treatment With Funny Photo

Tags:

UPDATE (December 27, 2017) — Since announcing back in September that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus has continued to work, travel, and generally kick butt.

During her cancer battle, Louis-Dreyfus often posts updates on her social media, including a December 22 Instagram picture of the actress receiving a blood transfusion. True to her comedic roots, Louis-Dreyfus captioned the photo: “Getting ready for the holidays with my awesome Xmas cocktail. #jollytransfusion #ivebeengood”

Friends, fans, and other celebs have already reached out to Louis-Dreyfus with words of support. Actress Shannen Doherty, who announced in May of this year that her cancer was in remission, commented, “You got this!!” on Louis-Dreyfus’ photo.

We’re sending Louis-Dreyfus and her family lots of support and strength as she battles this terrible disease.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE (November 10, 2017) — It’s back to work for actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus! The Veep star recently sat for a table read with her costars just days after she revealed that she’d finished her second round of chemotherapy.

David Mandel, a producer on the hit show tweeted a photo of the script for the final season, and Louis-Dreyfus responded, tweeting: “It was a fantastic script read by an amazing cast. Huge comfort and joy!”

Louis-Dreyfus posted an amusing photo of herself wearing oversized aviator sunglasses and a fake drawn-on mustache. Even though she’s got on a tough-guy frown, it’s nice to see that she hasn’t lost her sense of humor during her breast cancer battle. The 56-year-old quoted pop singer Katy Perry’s song “Roar” in her NSFW (not safe for work) Instagram caption before thanking Perry and her Veep costars Tony Hale and Timothy Simmons for their “hilarious and loving inspiration.” Louis-Dreyfus followed up that post with a hilarious video of Hale and Simmons lip-synching to Perry’s music.

On September 28, Louis-Dreyfus announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, tweeting a photo that read: “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one. The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

When the news broke, dozens of friends and collaborators offered messages of encouragement, including Kevin Spacey, Seinfeld actor and friend Jason Alexander, and Wanda Sykes, her costar in The New Adventures of Old Christine. Louis-Dreyfus’ son, Henry Hall, also thanked those who sent supportive messages to his mother.

So far though, Louis-Dreyfus has remained relatively quiet about her treatment. Fortunately, she looks to be in good spirits, and she has an amazing support system that will help her get through this.
