Essential-Oil-Scented Firewood Makes Your Home Smell Like a Winter Wonderland

Tags:

Essential-oil-scented fire logs are here to save your home from stubborn smoke odors this holiday season. After all, wouldn’t you prefer to smell the fragrant Christmas tree or the chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven?

For a flame that burns bright and smells heavenly, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the nooks and crannies of a piece of firewood. Then, light that bad boy and enjoy the scent of peppermint, sandalwood, or whatever your preferred scent may be. You could even opt for a non-traditional holiday scent like lavender, which has aromatherapy benefits

We suggest pouring the essential oil on a paper towel, then using the paper as kindling. With this method, the scents will linger for about two hours before you need to repeat the process. Just be sure to never pour essential oil directly on the flame. We repeat: Do not pour essential oil directly on the flame. Essential oils are flammable and will burn you.

Scented fire logs are available if you like traditional wood smells like basalm. Pine Mountain worked with Yankee Candle to create Balsam Fir Scented Logs ($24.99, Amazon), which are ideal for those who don’t want to deal with potentially dangerous essential oils. That said, this option is a bit pricier than just buying a bottle of scented oils that will likely last you through the season and beyond.

Fire-scented candles are another option for people who either don’t have a fireplace, or just can’t be bothered to set theirs up. We like the “Fireside” candle from Wax and Wick ($29.97, Amazon). “Wood Smoke” by WoodWick ($26.27, Amazon) is also another great option, and it’s guaranteed to burn for at least 100 hours, so you know you’re getting your money’s worth.

Now your home will smell like a winter wonderland when you close your eyes — and we can’t think of anything better!

We write about products we think our readers will like. If you buy them, we get a small share of the revenue from the supplier.
