Dunkin’ Donuts Is Getting Rid of Even More Menu Items

Tags:

UPDATE (January 9, 2018) — Bad news for fans of Dunkin’ Donuts: The chain just announced that it’s eliminating 10 more menu items. This news comes just three months after the company announced it was reducing its menu from 30 flavors of donuts to just 18.

Fortunately, this time around, it looks like the remaining donut flavors are safe for now. But according to Boston.com, many breakfast and lunch sandwich items are getting dropped, as well as some drink options.

Latest Dunkin’ Donuts Menu Items to be Dropped

Turkey Cheddar Bacon Sandwich

Ham & Cheddar Sandwich

Tuna Salad Sandwich

Chicken Salad Sandwich

Big N’ Toasted Breakfast Sandwich

Angus Steak & Egg Breakfast Sandwich

Strawberry Banana and Tropical Mango Smoothies

Peach, Caramel, and Mocha flavor shots (unsweetened shots, as opposed to Dunkin’s iconic favor swirls)

Some optional muffin, bagel and cream cheese selections

Flatbread

In most locations in the Northeast, these items may already be gone. As for the rest of the country, you can expect to see these items gone in all locations nationwide by March. So if one of your favorites is on the list, you better move fast so you can have it one last time!

ORIGINAL ARTICLE (October 6, 2017)Donuts are the perfect breakfast food. Sweet, soft, warm — and most importantly, they pair well with a steaming cup of coffee. So this news about Dunkin Donuts’ changing menu might disappoint donut fans. Here’s why.

In 1,000 locations nationwide, Dunkin will reduce its menu from 30 donut flavors to just 18. The reason why: an “overarching reset,” David Hoffmann, Dunkin’s U.S. and Canada brand president, said. He believes this innovation will help the coffee-and-donut chain rediscover “donut mojo.” We firmly believe that said mojo is found in the center of a delicious Boston cream donut. But hey, we don’t get paid the big bucks to make decisions, do we? Whatever you say, Hoffmann!

If you’re a fan of some of Dunkin’s more unconventional flavors and you’re worried that you might have enjoyed your last bite, don’t fret! The change won’t happen until the end of October, so you still have time to buy your favorite pastry and freeze it until you can send it to a food testing lab and learn the recipe for yourself.

According to Thrillist, there’s no word yet on which flavors are getting the ax. That said, I think we’ve made it pretty clear how we feel about the possibility of Boston creams not making the final 18.

“The test locations will offer a minimum of 18 core donuts with the opportunity to expand based on consumer feedback and regional preferences,” a Dunkin spokesperson told Thrillist in an email statement. “We believe this approach will provide a more consistent experience from store to store, and in some cases, will actually increase both the variety and quantity of donuts available to our guests. We will assess the results of the test before making any determination about a possible national rollout.”

We hear ya, buddy! Just please, whatever you do, don’t get rid of the Boston creams!
