And lucky for you, someone included this genius fan-cleaning hack: “To clean ceiling fans, put a pillowcase over the blades and then slide them off. It’ll pull the dust/debris back inside of the case,” user janeventure wrote. Then, all you have to do is toss the dirty pillowcase in your laundry pile. Does it get much easier than that? And while you’re up there, why not wipe down the blades with a dryer sheet. These little swipes will reduce static cling, meaning you won’t have to dust as frequently.
If you don’t have a ladder (or a cousin who plays basketball!) consider investing in a mini version that can be easily hidden away. You’ll be surprised how many times it comes in handy. Using a vacuum is another option if the hose has an extendable wand. All those extra vacuum attachments you always ignore are made for the job. You may not get as close of a clean as you’d like, but it’s better than nothing.
Taking down the fan blades is an option for those who don’t have any better weekend plans or for type-A cleaners who really want to get in there and give everything a thorough rubdown.
