When buying any major appliance, timing is key — so what is the best time of the year to buy appliances? Whether it’s to replace a washer that’s run its last cycle or part of a major renovation, we all want a good deal on our home appliances, especially since they can cost us a pretty penny. But to find the best bargains, it’s important to be strategic. That means shopping when stores not only want you to, but need you to.

When is the best time of the year to buy appliances?

If you’re shopping for a new appliance, the best time of year to pick one up is right around the corner: fall. There are two major reasons why fall is the best time of the year to buy new appliances — new collections and holidays. Come September and October, brands and manufacturers unveil the latest models of appliances like washers, dryers, and ovens. In order to make room for these items, stores will sell last season’s models at rock-bottom prices. Couple that with seasonal holidays known for savings, like Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and you’ll be swimming in savings.

Best Labor Day Appliance Deals

Speaking of Labor Day, the deals are ripe with savings this year on everything from furniture sales to electronics deals, but the best deals are on, you guessed it, appliances! From top-performing washers to the perfect ovens for all of your Thanksgiving cooking needs, check out the best Labor Day appliance sales your favorite shops have in store this holiday weekend.

With up to 40 percent off select refrigerators, dishwashers, and washers and dryers alongside 35 percent off ranges and 30 percent off floor care, there’s more than enough reason to spend your Labor Day at Home Depot this year. Our favorite deal? This top-rated Whirlpool washer, now 34 percent off (that’s a savings of over $250 dollars!)

However, unlike other retailers, they’re offering an extra 10 percent off online purchases with the code “APPLIANCE10” and another 10 percent on top of that with appliance purchases over $399 when you use your Sears card. Our favorite deal? This Kenmore 14573 dishwasher with Third Rack and PowerWave Spray Arm. Originally over $900, you can get your hands on it this Labor Day for $579.
