Jennie Garth is choosing to love herself in the season of life she’s in.
In a Wednesday, April 8, interview with People, the Beverly Hills 90210 alum, 54, confessed she’s had a turbulent road grappling with fame at a young age, divorce and miscarriages, but is now embracing the phrase her character Kelly Taylor said in the hit television show when faced with picking between two guys: “I choose me.”
The actress explained to People, “I have to amplify that message still in 2026,” which she is doing with her podcast I Chose Me, and her upcoming memoir titled I Choose Me: Chasing Joy, Finding Purpose, and Embracing Reinvention.
“I think when I turned 50, I started to really question what next?” Garth told the outlet. “It’s been a movement for me personally just to come into this phase in my life that I do feel comfortable choosing myself.”

“And it’s taken a while, even though I said it so many years ago, you know, it’s taken a while to fully live that and breathe it, and I just want that for all women,” she noted.
The mom of three — who shares daughters Luca, 28, Lola, 23, and Fiona, 19, with ex-husband Peter Facinelli — explained that “everything seems to get easier” when you “get to the core of what you want for your life” and stop people-pleasing.
For Garth, choosing herself, of course, comes into play in the self-care she practices as she rejects the traditional notion of anti-aging.
“I’m a realist. Like, we’re all aging. There’s no such thing as anti-aging,” she stated. “I take really good care of myself. I am very intentional about, you know, certain self-care things that I do. Eating well, getting great sleep, drinking enough water, not eating certain foods that I feel could probably lead to disease in my body.”

Additionally, Garth is kind in how she speaks to herself.
“I kind of try to look into my own eyes and really get into the soul of me and appreciate, like it comes down to gratitude of like, ‘Oh my god, look what you have done in your life. You are a success. You’ve done great things, and there’s so much more for you,'” she said. “And just really like appreciating myself.”
“Choosing to give myself the same love that I give to my daughters has really been like an aha moment for me,” she added.
