4 Ways to Create Your Dream Living Room
When it comes to your home, the living room should be one of the most inviting places. It’s where you spend time winding down after work, relaxing on the weekends, and entertaining your guests. If your living room is lacking that homey feel, here are a few tips to turn it around.
Experiment with cushions.
Adding cushions of different shapes, sizes, and colors can really give life to your living room as well as being practical and comfortable. When choosing your cushions, pick colors and styles that complement your decor but experiment with patterns, shapes, and sizes. For example, if your furniture consists of shades of grey, buy a colored European pillow then a smaller patterned cushion. This will add color as well as texture and give the space energy.
Add flowers.
Whether they’re fake or real, flowers brighten up any room. Displaying flowers in a vase in your living room will instantly make it feel more welcoming. Make it a feature by grouping flowers by color in a few different size vases, or create an arrangement of tall willow branches in a big floor vase for a more neutral effect.
Mess it up.
Living rooms should not be a formal space. You can mess it up a little (in the right way) to make it cozier, without disrupting the aesthetic appeal of the space. Add a mismatched chair, display family photos in a collection of diverse frames spread an area rug across the floor, or spread a few books over your coffee or side table.
Invest in a throw.
A throw is a must-have item in all living rooms. It adds to the decor when it’s not being used and doubles as a cozy blanket for you or your guests whether you’re reading, watching TV, or just chatting with a friend in your living room.
