The Perfect Indoor Plant to Match Your Home Decor Style
Indoor plants are currently on the top of the list of interior design trends. In recent years, their popularity has skyrocketed, with the most sought-after plants being monstera delicosa — or “Swiss cheese plant” — along with giant fiddle leaf figs. The increase in popularity makes sense when you consider how a touch of greenery can lift the look of an entire room with very little effort. With such a large variety available — and so many varieties trending — it can be difficult to decide which one will suit your home’s existing style. Well, we’ve got you covered! Whether you love Scandinavian style, like to keep things simple and minimalist, or are all about everything mid-century modern, scroll down to find indoor plant styling ideas to suit your home.
1. Minimalism

If you like to keep things simple and minimalist, then look no further than the rubber plant (fiscus elastica). This plant has big, shiny leaves that are deep, rather than bright green. Perfect for homes with a monochromatic color palette, they can grow quite large and are easy to look after.
2. Modern

The fiddle leaf fig has been trending for a long time. This plant is perfect for modern homes and has the added benefit of filtering toxins from the air. Growing your fiddle leaf fig to epic proportions is possible with just a few basic care instructions.
3. Boho

Cacti are essential when going for a boho look. They’re very hardy plants that work well in potted gardens, making them perfect for apartment or tiny home living. There are also endless shapes and sizes available, and many of them flower, too.
4. Scandinavian

Nailing Scandinavian styling is all about stripping things back to the basics, which is why it might be a good idea to steer away from larger-than-life varieties, such as the fiddle leaf fig or rubber plant. Style smaller indoor plants, such as the chain of hearts (creopegia woodii), on shelving. This particular plant is known to be indestructible, which means its great for people who are looking for something stylish yet low-maintenance.
5. Mid-Century Modern/Retro

The Swiss cheese plant (monstera delicosa) has been a highly favored plant for years for a good reason. Their large, split leaves have become iconic and make a statement in any home. This plant experienced a surge in popularity in the mid-20th century, which makes it perfectly suited to homes with a mid-century modern vibe.
6. Coastal

Nothing says coastal living like sipping a piña colada on the beach beneath the palm trees. Invoke the sense of a year-round vacation in your coastal home with palm trees. Palms are easy to grow indoors, with some varieties requiring very little watering. One of the best indoor palm plants is the lady palm (rhapis excelsa), which tolerates both low light and dry conditions.
7. Industrial

Industrial style homes generally have the advantage of space — think warehouse conversions with high ceilings and exposed beams, so go big with your indoor plants. Indoor trees such as the European olive (olea europea) or the trangle ficus (ficus triangularis) are perfect for creating an indoor jungle.
