Wear an Ugly Christmas Sweater to Board Your Flight Early
If you have a delightfully cheesy Christmas sweater collecting dust in the bottom of your closet, now might be a good time to dig it out. Not only have “ugly” Christmas sweaters become a popular look for holiday parties, but they could also get you on your flight early. Yes, really.
Alaska Airlines and its partners, Virgin America and Horizon Air, will be celebrating National Ugly Holiday Sweater Day on December 15 by allowing any passengers wearing these sweaters to board early. Alaska Airlines wrote on its official Twitter account, “The holidays just got sweeter! On December 15th ugly holiday sweaters will get priority boarding.”

This promotion will be honored throughout all of the 115 cities that the airlines serve in the network. This is the first year that the company is partnering with National Ugly Holiday Sweater Day, and it’s for a pretty heartwarming reason.
“Travel during the holidays can be stressful for guests, especially those who do not travel often,” said Natalie Bowman, Alaska Airlines managing director of marketing and advertising, in a press release. “This fun promotion not only allows guests to board early on that day, but gives people another opportunity to dust off that ugly holiday sweater hanging in the back of their closet.”
To make their passengers’ travels even more fun and lighthearted, the airlines will play holiday-themed music while customers board the planes on all the flights. The tunes will last throughout the month of December. Meanwhile, they encourage passengers to document their holiday travel experience on social media using the hashtags #UglySweaterDay and #MostWestCoast.
Know anyone who’s flying any of those airlines on December 15? Make sure they know this insider info!
