Starbucks is Giving Away Free Limited-Edition Reusable Mugs – Here’s How to Get One
From peppermint mochas to caramel brulée lattes, Starbucks holiday drinks are oh-so-delicious this time of year. A steaming mug of your favorite beverage is sure to put you in the right mood and keep you stress-free before Thanksgiving. On November 18, there will be even more reason to celebrate with a tasty drink: Starbucks Red Cup Day is back!
This will be the fourth year in a row that Starbucks offers the giveaway. When customers order handcrafted holiday or fall beverages at participating stores on November 18, Starbucks will offer them a free, limited edition red cup (while supplies last).
“As we build on our strong start to the holiday season, we’re delighted to bring back our reusable red cup giveaway for the fourth straight year,” Brady Brewer, chief marketing officer for Starbucks, said in a statement. “The reusable red cup has become a tradition for customers each holiday season and is a step towards reducing single-use cup waste as we work towards our planet-positive goals.”
Which Starbucks holiday drinks count?
Whether you prefer hot, iced, or blended, any holiday or fall beverage (handcrafted by an employee) qualifies for a free cup. Those beverages include:
- Apple crisp macchiato
- Caramel brulée latte
- Chestnut praline latte
- Hot chocolate
- Irish cream cold brew
- Peppermint hot chocolate
- Peppermint mocha
- Pumpkin cream cold brew
- Pumpkin spice latte
- Sugar cookie almond milk latte
- Toasted white hot chocolate
- Toasted white chocolate mocha
You should be able to modify the drink to a reasonable degree (e.g. requesting soy milk in place of real milk) and still receive a free cup.
As a bonus, you can bring your clean, reusable cup back into Starbucks and use it in place of a single-use cup. (You can also bring in any reusable cup!) If you do so, Starbucks will offer you a 10-cent discount on your drink. For now, employees can only accept personal, reusable cups inside stores, not at the drive-thru.
Details of Starbucks Red Cup Day
According to the Starbucks press release, you don’t have to order a drink in person to receive your free cup. You may order a holiday or fall drink on your phone for in-store pickup or curbside pickup. You can even order a delivery on Uber Eats and still qualify for the freebie. Just make sure to check your Uber Eats app for availability and restrictions.
Curious about what type of cup you will get? The giveaway item bears a shimmering ribbon design surrounding the classic Starbucks logo. It also comes with a reusable cap. Get to your local Starbucks early in the day for the best chance of getting a free cup!
