Our Mummy Meat Loaf Recipe Is a Scarily Good Dish for Halloween
If you’re looking for scarily delicious Halloween recipes to whip up before a party or gathering, this mummy meat loaf recipe just might be the perfect addition to your table. Try not to get too spooked by the wide variety of edible decorations you see in the photo above; this shareable dish is frighteningly easy to whip up before all your guests arive — even if you only have a couple of hours to cook.
To create this Halloween mummy meat loaf, all we did was give an ordinary meat loaf recipe a twist by wrapping it up in breadstick dough and topping it with sauce-drenched pasta. In no time at all, the dish was totally transformed into a very yummy meat loaf mummy!
Ingredients
1 onion, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
2 Tbsp. olive oil
2 lbs. ground beef
3 large eggs
1 1/4 cups quick-cook oats
1 Tbsp. fresh thyme
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tube (11 oz.) refrigerated breadstick dough
2 cups cooked fusilli
1 cup marinara sauce
Radishes, olives, and scallions to serve (optional)
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine the first eight ingredients and press them into a greased ovenproof bowl.
- Bake for 45 minutes and then unmold. Drape the breadstick-dough pieces over the meatloaf to make it look like a mummy face. Bake for 15 minutes on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Toss the cooked pasta and sauce together. Top your meatloaf with the sauce-covered pasta. Use radishes, olives, and scallions for eyes, if desired.
- Serve and enjoy your fabulous Halloween mummy meat loaf. Psst: We think Halloween fruit kebabs and spooky pigs in a blanket make the perfect easy side dishes.
