As If We Needed an Excuse to Sip Wine and Watch Hallmark Movies, Now There’s a Game
We’re supposed to say that our favorite thing about the holidays is spending time with friends and family, but sometimes we need a break from the cooking, cleaning, and awkward small talk. That’s why there’s nothing better than watching a movie with your best friends and sipping a glass of wine — or is there? A genius woman in Texas has devised a drinking game to be played while viewing any Hallmark Christmas movie, and we guarantee you’ll be wine-drunk before the film’s halfway mark.
Though the release of Hallmark’s Christmas movie line-up is always a big deal, we wouldn’t exactly nominate these flicks for any awards. After all, how many times can one person watch the same cheesy romance plot that ends with a kiss and a white Christmas? (Apparently a lot, if you check our TV viewing history, LOL.) Fortunately, Brittany Graves is here to save us from the monotony of holiday films.
Graves originally posted the rules to her drinking game last year, but it was so popular that it’s making the rounds again. Even Graves’ husband decided to start tuning in. This year, she told FIRST editors she’s bringing it back.

Like many drinking games that follow a TV show or movie franchise, the rule is to drink whenever an item on the list occurs onscreen. For example, per her hilarious game’s rules, every time a character references a dead relative, you have to take a sip. See any fun Christmas activities like caroling or baking cookies? Take another sip. When someone’s snowed in or there’s an ugly Christmas sweater, you have to take two sips. When the cynic is filled with Christmas spirit — or the inevitable white Christmas occurs — you can finish your drink (if there’s any left!). There’s even a bonus round that says you have to take a shot if Candace Cameron Bure or Lacey Chabert is the lead actress.
The best part about this game is that you can pick your drink of choice. Warm up with spicy rum cocktails or opt for an alcohol-free version and sip a toasty hot chocolate.
See the cast of ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ then and now.
