Mom Freaking Out at a New Kids On The Block Concert Is Totally Us
If you were a kid during the ’80s, we’d bet money that growing up you danced along to New Kids on the Block at sleepovers, school dances, in the shower, and even in your underwear. Don’t worry — we’re not judging — because we totally admit that we did, too.
Three decades later, the band is still touring, and two lucky moms got the chance to meet their idols in person. Friends Kim Mesteller and Kristen Watters and Mesteller’s daughter, Kennedy Kocheran, traveled from Ohio to Tampa, FL, where Watters is from, to attend a NKOTB concert. They’re that dedicated!
Kocheran told BuzzFeed that the pair have been NKOTB fans since 1986, and that the two of them had previously attended the band’s concert in Columbus, OH, in 2015.
“They have been to every concert tour together since the group got back together,” Kocheran told Scary Mommy.
At the concert in Tampa, Watters and Mesteller stood pretty close to the stage, allowing them to reach out their hands anytime a member walked by. And for Watters’, she got the surprise of a lifetime when Joey McIntyre, the youngest band member, actually grabbed her hand in the crowd.
During the concert, Kocheran was snapping photos of her mom and her friend, so she was able to hilariously capture Watters’ reaction as McIntyre reached out. Not surprisingly, Watters completely freaked out, and her over-the-top expressions are too amazing to describe in words. We promise! You’ll just have to see for yourself.

Tell your mom it was lovely to see her!!!

Kocheran says her mom and her friend are a bit embarrassed now that they’ve gone viral, but we think it’s totally sweet.
“They love it and think it’s so funny,” Kocheran said.
So even though we won’t be touching a NKOTB member anytime soon, we just know we would have the same reaction as Watters.
