Mom’s Big Belly Convinces Her She’s Having Multiples

Louisiana mom LaQueena Hunter Grover believed she was going to have multiples when her belly just kept getting bigger and bigger.

“People would come up to me and say, ‘Oh, I think that’s twins or even triplets. Maybe there’s another hiding behind one of the babies,’” Grover told WDSU News.

As it turned out, Grover was only pregnant with one baby–one very large baby. When Loyalty Adonis Grover was born, he tipped the scales at a whopping 14 pounds and one ounce.

“Right when the doctor was taking him out, my husband’s mouth literally just dropped,” Grover said. “I remember the nurse came running back and when she told me that, I swear, had I not been on the gurney already, I would’ve passed out right there when she said that.”

Grover has three other children, but she was not prepared for such a massive baby. Two of her kids weighed less than seven pounds and one weighed just under 12 pounds when they were born.

Adonis spent 27 days in the NICU, but today he’s almost one month old and thriving.

“He wears a size three Pamper. He’s supposed to be in a size one as a newborn. He wears 3-to-6-month-old clothes and he wears some 6-to-9-month clothes. I put on him some shorts that were for 18-month-olds,” Grover said.

The doctor told Grover the last time they could recall a baby weighing 14 pounds at birth, he ended up playing football for the New Orleans Saints.

While Adonis’ NFL career has yet to be decided, his mom is sure that she’s done having kids.
