Like chewing gum, play-doh hands a tendency to stick to fibers – making it a challenge to remove from rugs and carpets with a high pile, and even those that don’t!

Method

It’s important not to put hot water on a carpet–play-doh crime scene, as this could cause the dye to run and make things worse, so here’s what you need to do to remove play-doh from your rugs and carpet.

• Grab a fresh wad of play-doh and gently blot the mess to get as much off as possible.

• Let it dry completely (hard to watch, we know), then use a knife to loosen all the solid pieces of play-doh.

• Vacuum and repeat the knife-scraping if necessary. 

• Wash any residual stain with cold water and some gentle soap.

• Then banish the kids to the garden, pour yourself a glass of wine, and drink a toast to outdoor play.
