30 Photos of ‘Chonky’ Cats That Prove They’re Just More to Love

View gallery

Chonky cats are some of the most delightful animals to see on the internet these days (just check out the #chonkycat tag on Instagram!) — and we thought National Cat Day was the perfect day to celebrate them. If you’re unfamiliar with the term “chonky,” allow us to explain. It’s simply a way of referring to animals who are chunky or slightly overweight, according to Dictionary.com

But don’t mistake this word for an insult or a way of fat-shaming our precious pets, it’s actually an affectionate (or cheeky) way of acknowledging that there’s more of them to love — a whole lot more in some cases! And these big boys and girls don’t just spend all day chowing down. Many chonky cats are just as playful, lively, and expressive as their slimmer counterparts. And of course, they enjoy some nice, soothing R&R after a day of play. Have we mentioned that some of them absolutely adore snuggling with humans?

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s there’s nothing like getting some big time love from a kitty. One look at these photos of chonky cats and you’ll want to cuddle them all!
