How To Get Your Jetted Tub Sparkling For a Romantic Night In This Valentine’s
Clean it now you can relax the night away.
Valentine’s Day is almost here. And however you’re celebrating the day, you deserve a little romance. If you’re lucky enough to have a jetted tub, then you’ve got the perfect V-day night setting already. But nothing saps the romance out of a hot bubble bath like dirty gunk and funky smells in the jets. Check out these tips for how to clean your jetted tub and have a relaxing, luxurious Valentine’s bath, perfect for a (literally) steamy evening in.
How To Clean a Jetted Tub
It’s a bathtub, so you just scrub it and call it a day, right? Not quite. The jets in whirlpool tubs, while luxurious, can harbor bacteria. If you see grime like mold inside or coming out of the jets or faucets, or if your tub smells funny or is taking a long time to drain, it could be time to give your jetted tub a deep clean, says Angi.com. The importance of cleaning your jetted tub goes beyond not wanting to sit in stinky gunk: Bacteria buildup in jetted tubs can put you at risk of infection or sickness, and can even shorten the lifespan of your tub. Ick.

Tools:
- 4 tablespoons powdered dishwasher detergent
- ½ cup vinegar
- Rag
- Small cleaning brush or toothbrush
Directions:
- Run hot water in your tub, filling it to about three inches above jets.
- Add dishwasher detergent and vinegar.
- Turn on jets, let run for 15 minutes.
- Empty tub.
- Fill it to same level again with cold water, run jets again for 15 minutes to rinse.
- Use rag to wipe away remaining residue and small brush (or old toothbrush) to clean crevices of jets.
How Often To Clean a Jetted Tub
Because jetted tubs are more difficult and time-consuming to clean than a standard bathtub, they might not get cleaned as often. And the frequency of cleaning is really depending on how often you use the tub — Rapinchuk recommends doing a deep clean every one to three months if you use your tub a lot, and once or twice a year if you don’t.
How To Have a Romantic Valentine’s Bath in Your Jetted Tub
Now that your bathtub is clean, it’s time to get sudsy. Because of the jets, it’s important that you know what types of soaps you should or should not use, so check the manufacturer’s recommendations — it may be best to avoid using oils and salts that could get caught in the water lines, or maybe you should use a low-foaming bubble bath specifically made for jetted tubs.
