This Easy Hack Will Get Rid of All the Icky Hair Buildup in Your Brush

Hair brushes aren’t usually on the top of our cleaning lists. In fact, we don’t think much about them much until it’s time to comb through our strands. Of course, that can quickly lead to more tangles on the brush than we ever get on our head. Luckily, you already have everything you need for a simple hair brush cleaning hack that will make it spotless, er hairless, again in no time.

The technique comes from Brandon Pleshek, a man who describes himself as a “third generation janitor and clean freak.” He shares a ton of amazing tips on his Instagram and TikTok pages, but we were particularly floored by his advice for cleaning hair brushes.

Pleshek recommends letting the brush soak in warm water and shampoo for an hour, then taking a toothpick (or similar item you can get under the hair with) to grab all the buildup. After that, just rinse it under water and let it dry.
