This Eye Cream Reduces Dark Circles and Puffiness Using Some Unusual Ingredients
Whenever I’m shopping for a new beauty product, my rule of thumb is that if I can’t pronounce any of the ingredients on the label, I won’t buy it. As someone with sensitive skin, I’ve always been a stickler when it comes to natural products. Thankfully, UpCircle Beauty’s eye cream to nix dark circles came onto my radar recently — and it contains two ingredients I not only can pronounce, but often have for breakfast: coffee and maple.
We spoke to Anna Brightman, co-founder of UpCircle Beauty, to learn about the benefits of using coffee and maple to reduce dark circles. She offers some insight on how long it takes before you’ll start seeing the amazing anti-aging results from this eye cream.
Can coffee and maple reduce dark circles?
Brightman tells us that using coffee oil and maple bark extract (two ingredients that are often wasted when making the products we buy in the grocery store) to formulate this eye cream was a no-brainer, thanks to clinical studies.
Coffee oil is made through an extraction process of roasted or unroasted beans, and has a variety of uses. Not only is it a natural moisturizer, it can also mask odors. It especially comes in handy for reducing dark circles because it’s rich in caffeine, which has been shown to stimulate blood circulation around the eyes. This helps brighten dark circles and nix puffiness.
Maple bark extract is another key ingredient in this eye cream that’s proven to reverse signs of aging. Brightman notes that maple bark extract contains high levels of ellagic acid, which is a powerful antioxidant that boosts collagen and strengthens the skin barrier. She adds that this ingredient is made by processing maple tree bark until the liquid is separated from the solids.
These two ingredients not only diminish dark circles, but they also have a wonderful smell. “The scent portfolio is also a match made in heaven, our eye cream smells like a caramel latte. Heaven!” Brightman says.
Unlike most eye creams, this one won’t cost you a pretty penny. Plus, it’s easy to use every day as part of your beauty routine.
How to Use UpCircle’s Eye Cream With Maple and Coffee
You can find the UpCircle Eye Cream With Maple and Coffee in stores and online (Buy from Ulta Beauty, $20). For maximum results, UpCircle suggests applying a small amount of the cream around the contour of your eyes every morning and night. Brightman notes that it might take up to one month for any dead skin cells around your eyes to shed and to see the full benefits of using it consistently.
I gave this eye cream a go following UpCircle’s recommendations, and began seeing my dark circles fading away within a full week. Although the bottle is 0.35 ounces, a little goes a long way and it quickly absorbs into skin. I didn’t find the coffee and maple smell to be overwhelming, either. This one is definitely worth trying if you love affordable beauty finds that help naturally reverse the clock!
