This Babysitter Refused to Put the Baby Down for Even One Second

What’s a babysitter to do when she’s on the job, but just needs to grab something to eat? For 15-year-old J’Ann Sorhaindo, the answer is simple: You get creative–really creative–and you never let the baby out of your sight.

Sorhaindo was recently watching her younger cousin, 2-month-old Ava, when she decided it was time for a snack. Ava’s mom, Claudia, had run out to do a few errands, leaving her baby at home with her nieces. A short time later, Claudia received a text message showing her just how closely her little Ava was being watched. Check it out.

It seems that when J’Ann wanted to make herself a sandwich, she couldn’t figure out what to do with the baby while she prepared the food. So she stuck the baby into the easiest place she could think of–her pants!

“So I had to run out the house for a quick min, so I asked my niece to babysit Baby Ava,” Claudia Sorhaindo wrote in the post. “A few min later I received a text saying that J’Ann wanted to make a sandwich but didn’t want to let baby Ava out of her sight. Lord send help this was her solution…creativity at its finest.”

Sorhaindo, who lives in Lakeland, Florida, told TODAY that she’s part of a large family and that her niece, J’Ann, is CPR-certified and used to looking after her younger cousins.

But the funny photos of Ava hanging out with her older cousin have a deeper meaning for Sorhaindo. In 2011, Sorhaindo’s 3-month-old daughter, Jenelle, died after a medication mix-up at a hospital near their home in St. Croix.

“J’Ann knows how protective I am with Ava,” said Sorhaindo. “Some might say I’m a little paranoid. I’m always checking to see if she’s breathing, so J’Ann showed me she is making sure she is keeping her eyes on Ava.”

Doesn’t that make this teen babysitter’s funny action that much sweeter?

“I am very thankful for having Baby Ava in my life because I thought I couldn’t have any more children,” said Sorhaindo. “And to see (these photos) brings tears of joy to my eyes.”
