Carrie Underwood Reveals That Her Classmates Teased Her for This

Tags:

There’s no doubt Carrie Underwood is one gorgeous woman. As a Grammy Award-winning singer, she’s a fixture on the red carpet, and she always looks stunning. Her upbeat, happy personality make her a pleasure to watch, so it’s hard to believe anyone could find something to tease her for. But it seems like her not-so-nice classmates have helped her build some tough skin.

“[My] worst hair moment ever would probably be me in the sixth grade when I decided that my bangs should have crazy amounts of gel … [and] I had a perm at some point when I was like 14. That was a bad idea,” admitted Underwood.

But her bad hair stories are totally relatable! We can all look back at our high school photos from the past decades and laugh at how silly our hair and makeup looked.

“Growing up in the ’90s I feel like the thin eyebrow was definitely a thing and I, like so many others, overdid it,” the singer told People.

And apparently, her fashion faux pas still haunts her to this day!

“They never really grew back the way they were supposed to so now I am very happy that they do have eyebrow pencils, so I can fix what I did to myself when I was young.”

And with two sisters, it was hard to escape being a human guinea pig for makeup experiments. It was a lot of “trial and error,” but the country singer made her own beauty mistakes and learned from them. But what really got to her were insults about things she couldn’t change.

“I had freckles on my face and they were in the exact same spot on both of my cheeks, so I felt like I got teased at school. I remember asking my mom if we could get rid of them. Well, I did get rid of them,” Underwood said.

“I had bad teeth, too,” she continued. “I had to get braces [more than once]. I actually had them on the bottom for like three months while I was doing red carpets, but no one knew–so I felt like I had a secret.”

Now that she’s older and a mom, she’s learned to ignore the mean things people say about her. “We’re all human,” she said. And she’s totally right!
