30 Years After Their First Duet, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton Teamed Up Again…And the Song Is Breathtaking

No argument from us–Dolly Parton has a gorgeous voice. Luckily, she loves to share it with her fans AND her fellow musicians. One of her favorite fellow-crooners: country-music legend Kenny Rogers.

The duo first teamed up for the mega-hit “Islands in the Stream” in the mid-1980s. They had so much fun that they got together to record such classic holiday songs as “Silent Night,” and “White Christmas.”

A couple of years ago they reunited for another duet. As both these stars explain before they start singing, they just clicked the first time–and the chemistry shows. So in case you missed it the first time, here’s an encore presentation of “You Can’t Make Old Friends”:

Performers don't have to be famous to make a big impact. These two kids--Canadian Jeffrey Li, 10, and Celine Tam, a 7-year-old from Hong Kong--were on a Chinese talent show. Their song of choice? Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up." The audience clearly wasn't expecting these little kids to have such powerful pipes!

Sometimes what makes a performance memorable is not the song itself, but the emotion it captures. In the case of Diana Ross and her daughter, Tracee Ellis Ross, it was a memorable mother-daughter hug and shared recollections. And enough of a snippet of "Lady Sings the Blues" to convince us that Ellis Ross, who stars in Black-ish, inherited her mom's voice.

"I'm Gonna Love You Through It" by Martina McBride never got such an emotional rendition. At a family party, a little girl named McKenna sang it to her mom who has lymphoma. Someone uploaded the video to Ellentube, Ellen DeGeneres' YouTube channel, and it made viral history. Ellen then invited the mother and daughter to her show, and her mom was surprised all over again when McKenna was joined by Martina McBride. (Their performance starts 2:14 in.)
