Woman Loses 140 Pounds for Her Wedding Day After Doctor Makes Harsh Comments

Tags:

Marine Dessymoulie never expected her own doctor to be so frank about her weight, but his brutal comments actually helped turn her life around.

The 29-year-old had reached 308 pounds in 2015 when the doctor inquired if Dessymoulie’s fiancé “liked her like that” and if she was “fed up with being fat.” He even offered her weight loss surgery options. Ouch.

“I was angry, sad, and ashamed–a mixture of all possible feelings,” Dessymoulie confessed to the Daily Mail.

Although upset by his words, she decided to use them as motivation to achieve a healthier physique. She went to see a nutritionist the next day. Cutting junk food out of her diet and starting to cook at home, Dessymoulie slimmed down to 168 pounds. And, wow, does she look great.

But she’s not stopping there. When her boyfriend proposed last December, she set a new goal of slimming down to 154 pounds for her June 2018 wedding.

Since her weight loss journey began, Dessymoulie made some stunning revelations about her previous harmful habits.

“I was always overweight, and I was very greedy,” Dessymoulie admitted. “My parents always tried to put me on a diet, but it didn’t work.”

The Paris native also confessed that living in a fast food-heavy household contributed to her ballooning figure.

“When I moved in with my boyfriend, we ate fast food several times a week at McDonald’s or Subway,” she shared. “I didn’t really care about my food. I didn’t count my calories, but I ate way too much. I ate junk food every week. I would eat between meals…I ate all the time.”

Her addiction to food began to make her feel isolated, while getting dressed every morning became a shameful ordeal.

“I didn’t wear normal clothes,” she said. “Every day, I would wear the same top and the same jeans. I was scared about simple things like sitting on subway or just hanging out with my friends…I was eating and isolating myself from others from shame. I didn’t want to be the fat girl, but I was.”

And now, she claims she has her doctor to thank for inspiring positive change in her life.

“I’ve had negative comments before, and I am strong person, so I am glad of the doctor’s attitude,” she said. “In the end it was good for me…Now I’m just alive–the woman I want to be. I feel free. I can wear what I want–run, jump and dance with my friends, and I’m not ashamed.”

What an amazing accomplishment! We’re so happy for you, Marine.
