Undetected Food Allergy Caused Her Astonishing Weight Gain

Tags:

Like many young women, Katrina Buening of Springfield, MO had struggled with her size since the age of 13. But when she saw her weight balloon to 238 pounds in her late 20s, she knew something had to be seriously wrong.

The culprit? Undiagnosed food allergies, which were keeping her in a constant state of inflammation and causing a host of other health issues.

“I developed a long list of health issues, fibromyalgia, hypothyroid, adult acne and arthritis that all led to depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts,” said Katrina. “I was eating things that I didn’t realize were hurting my body and this kept me in a constant state of inflammation, and when we are inflamed it causes us to gain weight.”

Searching for answers, she visited three different doctors, but they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. Finally, she met one who could helped her realize she’s allergic or reactive to soy lecithin (found in everything from salad dressing to chocolate) yellow food dye #6, and corn.

“I did finally find a doctor to help me figure out what was wrong, and my health issues are now all controlled by eating health and exercise,” said Katrina, who shed an impressive 80 pounds and now inspires others on her Facebook page and through her work as a health coach. In addition to clean eating, she exercises for just 25 minutes a day and has stayed slim.

“Once I figured it out, I saw massive results,” said Katrina, who credits one major outlet for motivating her and helping her commit to the positive changes.

“Two years ago, God led me to an online challenge group that helped me stay accountable long enough for me to start feeling good and see results. I was so sick and in so much pain,” she recalled. “I feel great now.”

We can see why! Kudos to her.
