Dirty Martini Pasta Transforms the Classic Cocktail Into a Briny and Creamy Dinner Dish: Easy Recipe
These olives will give your dirty martini pasta a buttery yet briny flavor and a vibrant green hue
Three words: dirty martini pasta. If I haven’t convinced you to make this for dinner tonight, let me elaborate further. This dish takes cues from the classic cocktail by tossing pasta in a sauce of olives, alcohol, lemon and other add-ins. The result is a creamy pasta dish with all of the sharp and salty flavors of a dirty martini – minus the hangover. All you need is 15 minutes to whip up this dish, so here are three tips and a simple dirty martini pasta recipe to follow.
What is dirty martini pasta?
This dish consists of pasta that’s coated in a velvety sauce containing butter, chopped olives, alcohol, lemon zest and garlic. Additional ingredients, including crumbled blue cheese, are garnished onto the dish prior to serving. Using these ingredients creates a pasta dish that mimics the briny and pungent taste of an actual dirty martini.
3 tips for making delicious dirty martini pasta
While this dish cooks quickly, it’s best to keep these three tips in mind for tasty results.
1. Choose the right pasta thickness.
For this dish, a thin pasta like linguine, angel hair or spaghetti works best over a thicker variety. This ensures that the strands absorb the velvety sauce, making every bite delicious.
2. Add a splash of booze.
In true dirty martini form, a small amount of gin or vodka will balance the sharper flavors in the dish. The booze’s alcohol content also evaporates when heated, which leaves behind its mild taste in the sauce.
3. Use these green olives for a rich flavor.
Castelvetrano olives are the ideal olive to add to this dish because they’re plump and boast a buttery yet slightly briny flavor. Opt for pitted olives so you can take them out of the jar and chop them with ease. (Bonus: Be sure to save a little bit of the olive brine to mix into the sauce for that signature dirty martini essence.)
