This surprise ingredient creates  sweet and fluffy waffles with a protein boost. No need to worry about dirtying up a large bowl as the blender takes care of combining the ingredients into a smooth batter. Here’s more on high-protein cottage cheese waffles, plus an easy recipe to enhance your breakfast routine!

What are cottage cheese waffles?

These waffles are made by combining cottage cheese, eggs, oats, baking powder together to form a batter. The batter is then poured and cooked in a waffle iron. When the waffles are golden brown, they’re served warm with maple syrup, berries or any toppings of choice. Adding cottage cheese to the batter makes it creamy, and increases the amount of protein in the waffles so they’re extra hearty. (Learn more about the benefits of cottage cheese.)

Best way to mix the batter for cottage cheese waffles

Think you need a bowl and whisk for these waffles? Think again! Simply add the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Then, you can preheat your waffle iron and scoop or pour the batter into the machine and cook. The cooking time will depend on the waffle iron, so refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for guidance on knowing when to remove the cooked waffles. Using the blender is a convenient way of prepping the batter with little mess afterwards.
