If you haven’t baked with cottage cheese before, this is your sign to do so. Why? Because the dairy superfood becomes even more creamy, especially when you use it to bake a cottage cheese pizza bowl. This dish takes the classic ingredients in a pizza (cheese, sauce and toppings) and combines them into a hearty dish. In addition to its delicious flavors, cottage cheese pizza bowls pack a protein punch—18 grams per serving to be exact. Read on for more on how to make this saucy and cheesy recipe.

What meal do you usually eat cottage cheese with?

What is a cottage cheese pizza bowl?

This pizza-inspired dish doesn’t rely on a crust for the base. Instead it layers cottage cheese with tomato sauce, shredded cheese, toppings such as pepperoni and sausage and seasonings. The dish is then baked until it’s golden brown before it’s cooled slightly and enjoyed. You can eat a cottage cheese bowl on its own with a fork or serve it with crackers or sliced veggies for dipping. Either way, you’ll get a taste of the dish’s sharp and pungent flavor in each bite.

Easy meal prep trick for cottage cheese pizza bowls

Since cottage cheese pizza bowls are quick to make, you can bake one or two extra portions to enjoy later. Simply bake the bowls as directed in the recipe and allow the bowls you’ll eat another day to fully cool. Cover them tightly with foil and store them in the fridge for up to three days. From there, remove the foil and reheat the pizza bowl in the microwave at 30-second intervals until it’s heated throughout.
