Serving Cocktails in Soda Cans Is an Easy-Prep Method for Gatherings: 2 Simple and Fizzy Drink Recipes
These homemade cocktails in soda cans are refreshing, flavorful and take just five minutes to make
Serving up cocktails to a crowd just got a whole lot easier! A drink trend called open can cocktails is taking TikTok by storm as it involves preparing and serving soda-based cocktails directly out of the can. This allows you to make multiple cocktails without needing to clean up a cocktail shaker or serving glasses afterwards. Also, you can remove the entire top of the can with ease using a convenient tool. Keep reading to find out more about whipping up soda cocktails directly in the cans and two recipes that are ready to drink in five minutes!
Why open can cocktails are a party-perfect drink option
We know that being on cocktail duty during a gathering isn’t always easy. It calls for making the drinks one at a time in a cocktail shaker, or enlisting a large pitcher to do the job. Then comes pouring them into glasses and garnishing each drink. Luckily, the open can cocktails trend is here to make this process much simpler.
Rather than mixing the cocktail ingredients in a shaker or pitcher, it’s all done in a soda can. This way you can create the drinks and have them ready to serve at the same time. Also, guests can dispose of the cans once they’re done — making it one less thing you have to clean. Tiktok creator Clara Peirce (@clararpeirce) is credited with popularizing this unique cocktail preparation. Any type of soda will work for these drinks, and there’s no shortage of open can cocktail and mocktail recipes to choose from online.
Easy trick for serving the cocktails directly in the cans
You’ll want to remove the entire lid from the can so there’s plenty of room to fill it with cocktail ingredients. To do this, you can use a tool like this Draft Top Soda Can Opener — which pops off the lid in seconds.
A regular can opener is fine to use instead. Just be sure to avoid dropping the lid into the can as you’re twisting if off. This video from the Upcycle DesignLab YouTube channel demonstrates how to do this step at the 3:23 minute mark.
