If you thought pineapple was an appalling pizza-topper, then you may want to sit down for this. Apparently, another fruit has made its way to the cheesy surface of our innocent pizza slices — strawberries.

Yes, we know. It’s ridiculous. But, it’s real — and it might be happening in a household very close to yours.

Twitter is sent into a frenzy.

According to Twitter user @MoonEmojii, strawberries rein supreme over pineapples. “Strawberries >> Pineapples,” @MoonEmojii posted with a photo of a pizza covered in cheese and strawberry slices.

The internet responded to the post immediately (not like that’s a surprise, or anything). Since the photo was tweeted, it has received more than 5,000 likes, 2,000 comments, and 2,000 thousand retweets. Comments ranged from disgusted to curious to amused, and even pineapple pizza lovers responded to the madness.

Who made the first Hawaiian Pizza?

Pineapple pizza, also known as Hawaiian Pizza, was created by the late Sam Panopoulos in 1962 at the Satellite Restaurant in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.

“We just put it [pineapples] on, just for the fun of it, see how it was going to taste,” Panopoulos, 83, told the BBC. “We were young in the business and we were doing a lot of experiments.”
